Interim controller · Amsterdam & Randstad

A senior interim controller who builds, not just supervises.

Most interim controller searches surface recruiters or generalists. Cagni Finance & Advisory brings a senior FinTech and payments controller who takes ownership of your close, your reconciliations and your audit prep — with the systems background to fix them for good.

Why hire us

Beyond a warm seat.

Recruiters place bodies. We place a senior finance leader with Big-Four audit training, IFRS group-reporting experience and hands-on payments controllership from a global payments platform. You get someone who can close a set of books on Monday, automate the reconciliation on Wednesday, and brief your CFO on Friday — in English, Dutch or Portuguese.

What we take on

Six responsibilities we own from day one.

  • Own the monthly close end-to-end — journals, reconciliations, flux analysis
  • Recover delayed closes and clear reconciliation backlogs
  • Stand up SOx-aligned controls under IFRS, Dutch GAAP or US GAAP
  • Bridge finance, product and engineering on payments and digital-asset flows
  • Prepare your books for statutory audit or fundraising diligence
  • Design reporting packs for the board, investors or regulators (DNB / AFM)
Best fit

You've outgrown your bookkeeper — but a full-time controller is 6 months away.

Payments, FinTech, e-money and digital-asset businesses between Series A and Series C typically hit this gap. We plug in for 3–9 months, close the books, automate what should be automated, and hand over to a permanent hire with a clean playbook.

FAQ

Questions I get asked

How quickly can you start?
Usually within two weeks, often sooner for a close that is already in trouble. The first week is spent inside your close calendar and ledgers rather than in workshops.
Is this a full-time engagement?
It can be. Most engagements run two to four days a week over three to six months, which is enough to own the close and still leave room to fix the process rather than only survive it.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. I am based in Amsterdam and deliver globally, with on-site time for kick-off, audit periods and hand-over where it helps.
Which accounting standards do you work under?
IFRS, US GAAP and Dutch GAAP, including multi-entity and multi-currency groups, and SOx-scoped control environments.
What happens at the end of the engagement?
A documented close, a trained permanent team and a written hand-over. The goal is that the next controller inherits a process, not a mystery.
